Explore the Life of a Colonial Soldier at CPSHS
Explore the Life of a Colonial Soldier
Visit Crown Point State Historic Site for this special program, and learn about the everyday life of a Massachusetts soldier who helped build the British Fort at Crown Point in 1759. In 1759, as the French evacuated their armies from the Champlain Valley, the British quickly developed and laid out a new fort at Crown Point, and put their soldiers to work building a large fort and several outer defensive works. In this special program, visitors can learn about the day-to-day life of a soldier on campaign, and examine everything from his eating utensils to the weight and feel of the cloth used in his uniform. You might even be able to talk him into singing a popular period song. This program is free and is offered on Saturday, July 6 at 10:00-12:00 and 2:00-4:00.
