Check out this 8-mile out-and-back trail in Ticonderoga, New York. Explore a beautiful and quiet part of the trails in the Adirondacks- a true hidden gem. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, this hike takes an average of 5 hours to complete.  Begin from the Putnam Pond Trailhead near the campground and travel along the southern end of the pond. You will pass Mud Pond and then begin climbing up towards Treadway Mountain. Enjoy the view from the top of nearby lakes and surrounding mountains.  The elevation gain is 1,341 feet. 

  • REGISTER:  Spacing is limited. Click here to register.
  • TIME: Meet at the trailhead at 8:45 am for a 9:00 am start. This hike should take about 5 hours.
  • WHAT TO BRING: Be prepared for the start of cold weather hiking with warm layers, lots of water, & some snacks.
  • DIRECTIONS: The Treadway Mountain hike is located in the Pharaoh Lake Wilderness Area outside of Ticonderoga, New York. The trailhead is at the Putnam Pond State Campground, which is located at the end of Putts Pond Road, just under 5 miles from the intersection of Routes 9N, 22, and 74 in Ticonderoga.   Click here for Google Map directions.
