Colorful Fall Fun

If you are visiting the Ticonderoga Area this season and looking to experience timeless fall activities, Fort Ticonderoga’s Heritage Harvest & Horse Festival is just for you! In addition to their daily programming and scheduled Carillon Boat cruises (additional ticket required), they also have a day full of activities, demonstrations, and fun for the whole family. All of this takes place on a perfect autumn background full of colorful mountains, the cool waters of Lake Champlain, Fort Ticonderoga’s heritage apple orchard, the fall flowers of the King’s Garden, and of course their six-acre Heroic Corn Maze.

Start your day by checking out the Local Food and Harvest Market. A wonderful collection of growers, producers and creators will be on hand with products such as perennials, produce, craft distilled liquors, maple syrup, honey, jams and jellies, pies and more! You can also visit America’s Fort Café, Food Trucks, and the Annual Vegetable, Seed, and Plant Sale.

A visit to the Heroic Corn Maze will keep you entertained as you find your way through the six-acre maze by answering questions about Fort Ticonderoga’s treasured history.

See the grounds of the King’s Garden though a new perspective, by enjoying a horse-drawn wagon ride. Let Country Dreams Farm’s team of draft horses lead you on a tour of the garden and view the beautiful fall colors.

Stop by the Green House and you can take a piece of the King’s Garden home with you! Create your own beautiful arrangement with all the colors that fall has to offer!

Next you can try your hand at splitting logs or stacking rails for split rail fences. Then, watch resident oxen Mick and Mack in action as they haul materials.

Throughout the day, the Horse Demonstration Area will host many presentations, telling the tales of mounted cavalry, and how their roles varied from other militia. Also in this area, you can see a demonstration from the Green Mountain Hounds as they unite horses and hounds for an updated version of fox hunting.
