Winter in the Ticonderoga Area is much like that of any Adirondack town….lengthy. It becomes important to fill your calendar with events, social engagements and recreational opportunities or those winter doldrums, or what locals call “cabin fever” will grab ahold of you and won’t let go until St. Patrick’s Day. Luckily, there are plenty of events and activities scheduled throughout the season to help beat those winter blues and keep you busy until the leprechaun visits.

Fort Ticonderoga: Living History Event: 1776 Supplying our Army in Canada
Ticonderoga was a vital link in the supply chain keeping an American Army alive at the gates of Quebec City in January 1776. In this one-day living history event, explore the many needs of an army in winter from shot to shoes. See how soldiers and teamsters kept sleds running over the ice of Lake Champlain to keep Continental Army soldiers fed and clothed in Canada. Cost:$15/adult; $10/child

Knights of Columbus: Boom Scoot & Boogie: Fundraiser for the Best 4th in the North and FallFest
An evening of country music, down-home barbecue and fun to support the Best 4th in the North and FallFest. Wear your most festive 4th of July apparel or your favorite country themed outfit. Pre-purchase tickets for $35 or buy them at the door for $40.

A day of fun for the whole family! Join us for kids entertainment, carnival games, food and music. Stop by Percy Thompson Bicentennial Park in the evening to enjoy our annual End of Winter Carnival fireworks display!
Recreational Opportunities
Snowmobiling: The Adirondack Trail Riders snowmobiling club works year round preparing trails throughout the area. There is plenty of scenery to take in on over 28 miles of trails that connects Ticonderoga to Crown Point, Schroon Lake and Moriah that also connect to a larger system of trails.
Snowshoeing and Cross Country Skiing: If snowshoeing or cross country skiing are your thing, there are plenty of options in the area. From the Champlain Area Trails, to Lake George Land Conservancy’s Cook Mountain Preserve as well as the LaChute River Trail or Rogers Rock State Campground there are plenty of choices for all skill levels.
Ice Fishing: Ice fishing is a favorite past time for many in the Ticonderoga Area. If you would like to try it out as a visitor and would like a guided experience, contact Adirondack Mountain and Stream Guide Service.
Ice Skating: Many of us have Winter memories of ice skating as little kids. Bring those memories back as an adult, or make memories for your children at the Ticonderoga skating rink. The rink can be found adjacent to the LaChute River Trail and will be receiving a number of upgrades this season.
Sledding: Who doesn’t love the feeling of flying downhill on a sled or a tube? Grab the kids and your favorite sled and head to Percy Thompson Bicentennial Park in Ticonderoga or Witherbee Park in Moriah.

Punky Noodles Children’s Museum: Punky Noodles Children’s Museum offers kids an educational form of interactive play. Check out their Facebook page for opportunities for Open Play and Camp schedules.
Ti Arts: Downtown Gallery: Local artists come together to display their talents at the Downtown Gallery. A themed exhibit changes regularly. The schedule of exhibits can be found on their website at www.ticonderogaarts.org.
