Guest blog by Erin Mullen, Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce
Besides the draw to its natural beauty, restaurants, retail shops, and wonderful attractions, visitors to the Ticonderoga Area return year after year to experience a little bit of small town charm. Guests can enjoy a quieter, slower pace than they are used to in their more metropolitan home towns. A friendly interaction with a store owner, enjoying a delightful meal in a quaint environment, and being drawn in by local lore is all part of the allure of the Ticonderoga area.
While New York state was mostly closed during the bulk of the spring season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we asked visitors to put their plans on hold and return at a later date. Now that New York is slowly reopening, our area is thoughtfully preparing for visitors who are ready to do a little traveling this summer. The health and safety of our communities and visitors is of the utmost importance. It is our hope that travelers find that we are prepared to provide safe and healthy experiences while keeping hold of our small town politeness and niceties.
Visitors to the Ticonderoga area can expect to be respectfully asked to maintain social distance, wear face masks in public, and regularly wash and sanitize their hands. Through the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism’s “Politely Adirondack” campaign, posters reminding us of these protocols are appropriately placed at businesses and attractions throughout town.
A lot has changed in a few months’ time. Local businesses are adapting quickly and putting their personal touches on safety protocols. Each business is accommodating customers in their own unique way, from traditional shopping experiences to digital offerings and delivery and curbside services.
The Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce is here to help visitors get the most out of their experience. In addition to providing brochures and flyers for local eateries, retailers and attractions, maps and event information, we can also offer up-to-date information on how local businesses are operating. Our website has a member update resource as well as digital restaurant and retail guides. Whether you visit our team in person or digitally, we are your one-stop shop to enhance your visit to the Ticonderoga Area. Visit us online or call 518-585-6619 for more information.
So, whether your visiting to enjoy our beautiful lakes and mountains, experience our history, or are just looking to escape the hustle and bustle, we welcome you kindly and respectfully. Whatever your travel plans, we promise we will still be big on the small town charm. We will remain politely, the Ticonderoga area.
