You can feel it in the air, sense it in the fervor of the spring peepers in the evening, and see the activity in the fuzzy-bottomed bumblebees: summer will soon be upon us. With the Adirondacks coming into their full summer glory, we can look to a great list of events to keep the fun constantly rolling. Here are some of the events not to be missed!

Best 4th in the North Celebration

Best 4th is a summer staple celebration here in the Adirondacks. Five days of fun and celebration, from June 30 - July 4 culminate in the Montcalm Mile, parade, and a glorious fireworks display. Located in Bicentennial Park, there will be live music, a variety of games, rides, and food vendors! This event is popular with locals and visitors alike!

StreetFest

The historic downtown district of Montcalm Street is converted into a pedestrian mall on July 27. The event opens at 10 a.m. with Fort Ticonderoga’s Fife and Drum Corps and live music by local performers will continue through the day, to 3 p.m. The street will filled with sidewalk sales, artists, craftspeople, food vendors, and the Ticonderoga Area Farmer’s Market. This is a family friendly event with an array of kids activities!

Ticonderoga Area Car Show

This show, held at Bicentennial Park with the LaChute Falls for a scenic backdrop, takes place on August 4, from 9 a.m - 4 p.m. and has an expansive mix of vehicles. The Ticonderoga Area Car show serves as a qualifier for the SuperWheels Showdown in Boston, MA. During the car show, visitors can enjoy live music, food vendors, raffles, and kid’s activities.

Penfield Heritage Day

Head to the historic Penfield Museum on August 18, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. for an outdoor market with food and craft vendors. Enjoy the market with its view of the old church and pond. Take a tour of the museum and enjoy a gentle hike around the area.

Trekonderoga

On August 23 - 25, celebrate Star Trek in Ticonderoga! Walk the meticulously re-created set of the Enterprise, and hear behind the scenes stories and secrets about the filming of the original series. The event includes celebrity appearances, cosplay contest, Klingon makeup tutorials, and vendors. You’ll also have the chance to see the top-rated professional Elvis show put on by the driving force behind Trekonderoga, James Cawley, and his band, The American Longboards.

Ticonderoga Heritage Museum Children’s Summer Workshops

Our theme this year is "Chasing Rainbows," the impact of rainbows on art and culture. 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. at The Heritage Museum every Wednesday and Friday in July and August.

Ticonderoga Festival Guild Children’s Programs

10 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus Pavilion every Wednesday in July and August.

Summer Music Series at the Ticonderoga Community Building

July 9, 23, 30 and August 6, 13, 20 at 7 p.m. at the Ticonderoga Community Building

Beg, Steal or Borrow July 9, 2019 at 7:00pm Beg, Steal or Borrow was formed in 2013 and since their debut the group has toured from Maine to Bermuda. The band is a convergence of five veteran musicians. Beg, Steal or Borrow have won numerous festival awards and are sure to keep your toes tapping.

Zinky and the Billtones August 6, 2019. Delight in the rich mixture of rock, light jazz and r&b performed by well-known area artists, Bill Stokes, Hans Himelein, Nick Gulli and Ticonderoga’s own Mike Iturino on bass.

Adirondack Jazz Repertory Ensemble August 20, 2019. Experience many styles of jazz including Dixieland, blues, bebop, postbop, avant garde and modern jazz. AJRE features many different talents from the area.

Fort Ticonderoga

Scots Day June 15, 2019. Celebrate Scottish military heritage and culture during this one-day celebration! Listen to the sound of bagpipes echo within the historic fort walls and discover your own Scottish connection through lively programs, weapons demonstrations, and Carillon Battlefield tours.

Living History Event: The Sound of 1776 July 27, 2019. Step into 1776 and hear the rousing sounds of the Fifes & Drums lifting the spirits of the American Army! Enjoy musical concerts, thrill at weapons demonstrations and explore an immersive living history experience during this special event.

Battle Reenactment: Brown's Raid September 14-15, 2019. Experience the daring 1777 American raid on British-held Ticonderoga in this two-day battle reenactment. Be immersed in this real-life action adventure from the heights of Mount Defiance or on boat tours on Lake Champlain. Living history, weapons demos, exhibits and more!

Ticonderoga Area Farmers’ Market

Market takes place every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m, July – September at 1114 Wicker Street in Ticonderoga. Three additional special events are scheduled for the third Saturday in July, August and September. July 20 will be the grand opening celebration with entertainment by the ever-popular Sometimes Three. Friends of the Market Festival on August 17 will feature the Just Passin’ Thru Band. In September, the Harvest Festival will welcome back the Loose Monkeys.
