Here comes autumn on the Adirondack Coast. Plan on crisp, colorful days to enhance your apple, mum or pumpkin picking experience. Also plan on events and festivals to help you celebrate the season, entertain and intensify your visit.
Fort Ticonderoga is open daily through October 29th and aside from their daily programs, has plenty of special programs and events on their calendar through the fall to magnify a visit. Brown’s Raid Reenactment is a 2 day event to transport you back to 1777. Meander your way through the towering stalks of the Heroic Corn Maze to test your navigational and problem solving skills. Add to the challenge by conquering the Maze By Moonlight on two special evenings in October. The Fort’s Heritage Harvest and Horse Festival will have you appreciating genuine horsepower and equestrian sports.
This year will be the 2nd Annual Adirondack Harvest Festival, held at the Essex County Fairground. This festival will be packed with opportunity to sample tasty food and brews crafted from local ingredients while shopping for harvest produce or attending numerous demonstrations; cider pressing, bee keeping, cultivating gourmet mushrooms among others. Begin with the Farm to Fest hike sponsored by Champlain Area Trails. Afterward enjoy the day with live music, wagon rides and more.
Don’t miss Penfield Homestead Museum’s Applefolkfest to celebrate everything about the apple. Round off some hot chili and dogs with a wide selection of apple desserts, while shopping among numerous area crafters, artists and artisans.
