Hiking the Homestead Trail
Please note: This trail is closed during hunting season.
The trail has dense sections of native undergrowth before coming up to more open woods. You'll descend to a small creek before joining the Beaver Flow trails, which also connects to the Black Kettle trail. See website link for detailed maps of the trail system. This particular section can be done as just an out-and-back, but you could also connect it with the other amazing trails in the network.
Homestead Trail in the winter
Cook Road is closed to cars in the winter, but it is open for hiking, crosscountry skiing, and snowshoeing. If you decide to travel Cook Road via any of these ways, expect the possibility of breaking trail on the Homestead Trail, and be prepared for all winter conditions.
