Coming ‘round the mountain

Blueberry Hill is a unique recreation area that caters to a wide range of uses from hiking to horseback riding. The lower trails are a mix of rolling doubletrack and twisty singletrack, but it’s up higher where mountain bikers will find the most rewarding trails.

This trail system is highly recommended by Barkeater Trails Alliance (BETA), an organization that builds, maintains, and advocates for the mountain biking trails in our region!

Quick look

  • Mileage: 17.5 miles
  • Number of trails: 35
  • Green trails: 11
  • Blue trails: 18
  • Black trails: 6
  • Expert trails: 0
  • Land ownership: Municipal — Town of Elizabethtown
  • E-bikes: Class 1 allowed
  • Note: There is very little cell phone signal at Blueberry unless you’re up on the summit. Make sure to have your maps downloaded to your device — or better yet — buy a BETA trail map from a local retailer.
  • Pro tip! If you have time, try to get over to the other Elizabethtown trail systems for a variety of riding including some machine built trails across the road at Cobble Hill with parking at the Trails Center.

Parking

The best place to park is the lot on Bronson Rd. From 9N turn on to Lord Rd and then make a left onto Bronson Rd. Continue past the farm and into the Blueberry Hill Trail system until you get to the large clearing with a sand parking lot.

Highlights

  • The best views in the region that you can reach on a bike. Be sure to get up to the top of Joel's for a well-earned rest on the bench with a view, then rip all the way back down.
  • The Blueberry Lean-to is also a must see with the Handy trail being great in both directions.
  • First opened in 1808, the Deer’s Head Inn in Elizabethtown is a great place for relaxation and recovery – and you’ll have earned it with the rides at Blueberry!

Suggested routes

  • Up Around the Bend (Trailforks) This route takes you up the trail system all the way to the top of Joel’s the long way. Enjoy the view and then enjoy the ripping descent.
  • Good Lookin’ (Trailforks) Follow this route for the best trails and the most amazing views. Your eyes will thank you, though your legs may not.
