Wilcox Dock

The City of Plattsburgh offers a few good places to check out Lake Champlain. Wilcox Docks and boat launch area gives birders good views of Cumberland Bay and the surrounding lake where they can find wintering and migrating waterfowl such as bufflehead, common goldeneye, common merganser, and greater and lesser scaup. There are also often gulls mixed in with the ducks, and the concentration of birds can attract raptors such as bald eagles and peregrine falcons.
How to get there
From Exit 38S off I-87, merge onto Route 22 south toward Plattsburgh. Turn left onto Boynton Ave and continue for 0.4 miles. Continue on Cumberland Ave for another 0.4 miles and the docks will be on your left.
