Paddle the coast

Lake Champlain, the nation's sixth largest lake, is easily accessible numerous boat launches and marinas. The legendary lake is a popular paddling destination for canoes, SUPs, flat water, and sea kayaks. Find any kind of experience on the water, from relaxing flat water to adventurous whitewater floats.

  • Backcountry ponds are ideal for exploration via canoe, kayak or SUP (standup paddleboard).
  • The region's smaller rivers are navigable with small flat water and whitewater kayaks.
  • Area attractions offer another great way to paddle - rent a canoe at Fort Ticonderoga and experience history from a water perspective or take a raft ride at the Ausable Chasm.

Paddling is a great way to experience Adirondack wildlife both by birding and fishing. Guides and boat rental services are available throughout the region and are a valuable resource for anyone interested in learning more and going out on an adventure.

Leave No Trace and Love Your ADK

The magic of the Adirondacks is the result of previous generations taking a long view and protecting the mountains, lakes, and rivers within the Blue Line. That tradition continues today as we support and encourage everyone to practice Leave No Trace ethics, which help protect the lands and waters of the Adirondacks.

Seven Principles of Leave No Trace
